GRAVITRON

This game made of only two programmers is a submission for McGill’s McGame Jam 2023 with the theme "Deserted". Game won "Best Innovation Award".

It is a fun arcade-y survival game with many interesting mechanics that work with physics. Newton's Law of gravitation is used to pull objects from outer space together, including your ship. Your movement is also based on real space ship motion and some times you can get launched far in space when hit from another drifting object.

SPACE PHYSICS

What I enjoyed from this project was implementing and researching about space physics. Law of Gravitation, asteroid physics and collision resolution were all interesting mechanics to work on.

Me and my friend, Armando, were very happy we got to win a competition against all odds. We were running into different challenges, we were only two programmers and had to make the art ourselves as well as everything else.

We really learned a lot and how to optimize our workflows with limited resources and time.
